MUMBAI: When it moved its headquarters from Mumbai to Delhi close to a decade ago, Air India drastically cut down its international flights from Mumbai. When the pandemic hit, the airline reduced it further, operating a large majority of international flights, especially ultra long-haul offerings, from Delhi.
Air India is set to reclaim its Mumbai-US market with the launch of new, non-stop flights to San Francisco and New York-JFK, and additional flights to Newark before March 2023. The airline will also offer premium economy class seats-a first on its ultra long-haul sector, that is-on these flights.
Currently, the only US destination Air India operates to from Mumbai is Newark, with three flights per week.
