In a development which would give an impetus to the religious tourism in Uttarakhand, Air India started Dehradun–Varanasi air service on Saturday. The service would connect, Uttarakhand usually called Dev Bhoomi with the Varanasi often referred to as the ‘Spiritual Capital of India. The service which would operate twice a week initially was formally inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat at Dehradun airport, Jollygrant on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, CM said that the direct air service between Dehradun and Varanasi would especially benefit the people of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
