MUMBAI: Hundreds of residents of Air India staff colonies in Kalina held a rally on Sunday evening in protest against the government decision to evict them from the staff quarters.
In October last year, Air India had sought an undertaking from the employees residing in the quarters saying that they will vacate the premises within six months of privatisation of Air India. The airline privatisation was completed in January end.
About 1600 flats in the four colonies house Air India engineers, ground staff and employees, who are allocated the staff quarters in lieu of HRA, said George Abraham of Aviation Industry Employees Guild, one of the four Air India unions that organised the rally.
