NEW DELHI: Air India chairman Rajiv Bansal has been appointed as the new aviation secretary who will succeed incumbent PS Kharola when the latter retires this month-end. A 1988 batch lAS officer of Nagaland cadre, Bansal will thus oversee the impending transit of Air India from government ownership to private hands in coming months as the winning bidder for Air India is likely to be announced in coming days.
Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) chief Arun Kumar has also been given the rank and pay of secretary to government of India by the appointments committee of the cabinet (ACC) in an in-situ upgradation.
