MUMBAI: Tata-owned Air India has acquired India’s first Airbus A350-900 aircraft through a finance lease transaction with HSBC, the airline said on Friday adding that the landmark transaction marks the beginning of Air India’s aircraft leasing business from Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City).
This is Air India’s first financing transaction involving its 470 aircraft orders, placed early this year. The transaction makes Air India the first scheduled carrier to have acquired an aircraft from an entity registered in GIFT City, the airline said.
