NEW DELHI: An Air Arabia flight from Chittagong to Abu Dhabi on Monday night had to make an emergency landing in Ahmedabad after an engine snag.
Since twin-engine aircraft can land safely on one engine, flight 3L-062 operated on Airbus A320 (A6-AOT) did so by diverting to Ahmedabad where it landed safely.
“While in cruise, the pilots got a warning for engine 1 stalling and the electronic centralised aircraft monitor (ECAM) failing. The pilots shut down engine number 1. They diverted to Ahmedabad, declared May Day and landed there safely,” said people in the know.
According to aviation website Skybrary, ECAM is “Airbus version of an enhanced engine indicating and crew alerting system (EICAS) system. It presents data on the engine/warning display and system display inclusive of primary engine indications, fuel quantity, flap and slat position.”
