NEW DELHI: Having electrified all households, the newly elected Modi government resolves to provide round-the clock electricity at affordable rates, power and renewable energy minister RK Singh said. “Our next agenda is 24×7 supply and that electricity should be affordable. Reliability, sustainability and affordability of power will be a priority,” he told the media after taking charge. “In the last few years, we ensured electricity reaches every home,” he said adding priority will also be to bring change in sector with respect to international commitments and environment.
Singh was inducted into the council of ministers of the new government on Thursday. He will look after the additional portfolio of minister of state (MoS) skill development and entrepreneurship in the new cabinet of Modi government. Singh is a bureaucrat-turned politician and a second-time Lok Sabha member from Arrah in Bihar. He replaced Piyush Goyal as the power and renewable energy minister in September 2017.
