The government has worked out penalty of Rs 9,602.46 crore at the rate of Rs 295 per tonne for coal extracted upto October 2014 and Rs 891.90 crore for the period November 2014 to March 2015, for 39 operating coal blocks cancelled by the Supreme Court. Thus, government can expect to get Rs 10,494 crore to its kitty by March 2015.
