NEW DELHI: Adani Power has switched on electricity supply to Bangladesh from its newly-built imported coal-fired power plant at Godda in Jharkhand, setting in operation the first private energy deal between the two countries.
The company on Sunday said it has commissioned the first of the two 800MW unit based on very low emission ‘ultra-super-critical’ technology and is supplying 748MW to Bangladesh. Bangladesh currently sources 1,000 MW from India under a government-to-government deal.
Adani Power CEO SB Khyalia described the power project as a strategic asset in the long-standing India Bangladesh ties. “It will ease the power supply in Bangladesh, making its industries and ecosystem more competitive.
