NEW DELHI: Adani Power has asked Maharashtra power distribution company (discom) MSEDCL to pay a little over Rs 10,000 crore, which is the 50% of the outstanding amount by February 28.
In a letter to MSEDCL, Adani Power cites the Supreme Court’s January 31 order, saying it clearly sets a timeframe of four weeks from the date of the order for the discom to pay up.
Hearing Adani Power’s petition regarding non-payment against power supplied to Maharashtra under four power purchase agreements signed between 2008 and 2013, an SC bench consisting of Chief Justice N V Ramana, Justice A S Bopanna and Justice Hima Kohli had said generation companies (gencos) will have to shut down if discoms failed to pay their dues.
