Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, Deputy Commissioner, on Friday directed officers to take action within a week on all problems related to monsoon on national highways in the district. She was chairing a preparatory meeting with regard to the monsoon at the District Offices Complex, here.
Ms. Korlapati said that drains had not been constructed by the side of the highways at many places. This could obstruct traffic flow. Reflectors and boards should be installed at the right places to avoid accidents on national highways.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Department of National Highways should immediately take action on these matters. If the officials were negligent on this issue, criminal cases would be filed against them, she warned.
