Bengaluru: As temperatures in more than half of Karnataka crossed the 40-degrees Celsius mark in April, the state guzzled 10% more energy in the first half of this month compared to the same period last year.
Last year, the state had consumed about 4.3 billion units during the first half of April, considered to be the peak summer month in Karnataka. This time, the consumption was about 4.8 billion units.
Close to 50% of this demand was from Bengaluru and adjoining districts.
