A section of Mumbai Airport cleared after bomb threat call

A section of the Mumbai airport was cleared Saturday following an anonymous bomb threat call.

However, no flight operations were impacted as the runways were closed.

A spokesperson at the airport said that the “Bomb Threat Assessment Committee was convened to assess a threat call and has been declared as nonspecific.”

However as a mitigation measure, parts of the airport including the top level of terminal 2, airline offices and the meeters and greeters area were evacuated.

Security agencies across the country are extra-vigilant following air strikes and attempted counter strikes between India and Pakistan and the capture of a fighter pilot by Pakistan. He was released yestersay.

Both runways of the airport are being closed from 11 am to 5 pm for three days every week between February 7 and March 30. During this period, the runways would be shut for maintenance and repair work on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
