Nonfunctioning of about 3,000 of 12,000 LED streetlights within a year of installation and non-maintenance of the rest lights is now a matter worry for residents of the city.
The Neev Energy, a private agency, had installed the LED street lights in Brahmapur after a contact awarded to it in December 2017. The company has taken all money from the Government towards installation and maintenance of lights on a year basis.
However, 3,000 lights are not working now. Many street lights remain switched on for 24 hours also.
Dakshin Odisha Unnayan Parishad (DOUP) convenor Rabi Rath informed this in a statement and lamented saying that the Berhmapur Municipal Corporation has not taken any action against the agency despite repeated complaints.
