At least six people including two minors sustained severe burns in a gas leak-induced blast at Koliwada in Mumbai’s Khar suburb on Monday morning.
“The gas leak occurred in one of the rooms of the residential building leading to the accumulation of gas. After this, there was a spark because of which the accumulated gas ignited, resulting in a blast,” said Sanjay Manjrekar, chief fire officer of the Mumbai Fire Brigade. He added that had there been more objects such as clothes in the room, the fire would have spread leading to major casualties.
