BENGALURU: Ongoing Metro works on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) stretch from Central Silk Board to Hebbal have reduced traffic movement to a crawl. With the carriageway shrunk by nearly half, BMTC buses are taking more than two hours to cover a distance of 30km during peak time.
Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) operates 2,179 trips on the ORR. As per its schedule, BMTC has set 1.4 hours to complete a single trip, but severe congestion has increased the travel time to 2 to 2.5 hours.
A driver of route no. 500B said, “Driving on ORR during peak hours is a nightmare. Now, the works are in progress on the entire stretch, resulting in more traffic congestion.
