The inordinate delay in the completion of two bridges on river Pohru in Drugmulla area here is causing great inconvenience to the residents.
The construction work on the 450-meter bridge connecting dozens of villages with Drugmulla was started in 2009. The project that was estimated to cost Rs 6.72 crore is far from completion.
The construction of another bridge connecting many villages of Nagri area with Bramree was started in August 2010 at an estimated cost of Rs 5.99 crore. “Due to the incompletion of this bridge, people are forced to travel long distances to reach their destinations,” locals said.
“During rainy days our wards are not able to go to the schools as they have to cross the rivulet,” said Afaq Ahmad, a resident of Hatmulla.
