Bengaluru: Nineteen of the city’s 59 blackspots, the accident-prone stretches identified by traffic police, punctuate the 60-km-long Outer Ring Road (ORR). The blackspots on ORR stretches at Bellandur, Whitefield, KG Halli, Banaswadi, KR Pura, Mahadevapura and Kamakshipalya witnessed 132 accidents and 76 deaths in three years. The 59 blackspots across the city saw 755 accidents and 326 deaths.
The Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) Expressway has the second highest number of blackspots at 13. The 26-km-long road stretching from Hebbal till the Airport Trumpet junction saw 131 accidents and claimed 62 lives during 2020-2022, shows traffic police data.
