AHMEDABAD: Picture this: You sleep late, wake up early to get to the airport to catch a 6.30am flight and just when you reach the boarding gate you learn that the flight is delayed. Frustrating, isn’t it?
Though not as frequent, a delay is likely for 14 of every 100 flights departing from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) airport in Ahmedabad. Estimates on the on-time performance of flights provided by airport sources privy to the development revealed that 14% of flights departing from the city airport were delayed in the first quarter of fiscal year 2023-24. “This is about three percentage points lower than the preceding quarter, when 17% of flights were delayed,” a source told TOI.
