Now, take Srinagar tour on choppers

For the first time helicopters carrying tourists or local enthusiasts would be hovering in Srinagar skies, where otherwise, aerial security surveillance or transportation of VIPs was the only known purpose of any chopper seen flying.

The tourism department along with local tour operators has started a helicopter service, which offers aerial tour of Srinagar at very affordable prices. The chopper service would also available for tourists to fly from Srinagar to world famous ski resort Gulmarg in north Kashmir and Pahalgam in south Kashmir.

Security agencies as per the tourism department have given green signal to the chopper movement and have put in place arrangements at helipads at both the tourist desti nations. “We expect to get good response from tourists and local travellers. This is a new experience for all of us,” director tourism, Mehmood Ahmad Shah told ET.

The department offers seven-minute serial tour of Srinagar for Rs 3000, where travellers would fly around Dal lake, mughal gardens and old Srinagar City. Tourists or locals have to book the tickets with local tour and travel operators and CNE Tours and Heevan Tours would be the preferred selling agents.
