Tangedco to test bluetooth meter reading devices in Chennai
CHENNAI: Following complaints about faulty meter reading by assessors, the state power utility has decided to test bluetooth devices and fibre optic port reading of meters in different parts of Chennai city on a trial basis. It has also sought data on the complaints from its call centre (Minnagam).
“Initially, we have decided to test the bluetooth devices in the Madipakkam and Gowrivakkam areas where staff shortage has been cited as a reason for remote reading of electricity consumption,” said a Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco) official.
Armed with the data from Minnagam, officials will conduct the test reading in areas wherever such complaints have been reported.
