Sealdah flyover repair: Agency suggests removal of tram tracks

Kolkata: The Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) has prepared a detailed project report (DPR) to repair and strengthen Sealdah flyover. The consultancy agency that was engaged by the KMDA to prepare the DPR has recommended the removal of tram tracks from the flyover to reduce its weight.

“As per the recommendations given by the consultants, the tram tracks and the existing damaged bitumen layer from the carriageway of the flyover need to be removed to reduce its weight. The existing structure of the flyover is in a miserable condition due to heavy vehicular load,” said an official.
