Rly min takes a ride through under-Hooghly E-W corridor
KOLKATA: Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday took a trolley ride through East-West Metro’s Hooghly river tunnels to India’s deepest Metro station coming up inside Howrah railway station.
The minister started his inspection at Howrah Maidan station, accompanied by Metro general manager P Uday Kumar Reddy and senior officials from Metro Railway and KMRC, travelling onward to Howrah Metro station and then under-river to the Kolkata side.
Asked about the 2.5km “trouble section” at Bowbazar due to which East-West Metro’s extension to Howrah Maidan is not currently possible, Vaishnaw said, “The Metro GM is in touch with Bowbazar residents. I will request him to set up a camp to make the people understand the issues.
