Chennai corporation forms ward committees to fix battered roads on priority basis

CHENNAI: The Greater Chennai Corporation has formed ward level committees to immediately relay all roads that were damaged due to cuts. The committee will have Metrowater assistant engineer and corporation assistant engineer coordinating civic work.

Corporation commissioner Dr J Radhakrishnan said the committee had been formed to coordinate officials of Metrowater and other line departments. “The committee will get a list of road names. We will see where road-cuts need to be done and which roads need to be freshly relaid. Road cuts will begin immediately and we have given tenders for relaying of roads too,” said Radhakrishnan.

He also said wherever GCC has completed the work, it will put in place a wet mix that will instantly stick.
