Power staffers hold demo across State

Power employees, engineers and officersled by the Bidyut Shramika Karmachari and Engineers Ekata Mancha held demonstrations at all their offices across the State on Tuesday.

They are peeved over the fact that despite repeated failures of two-decade-long privatisation and franchisee model in electricity distribution, the Government and the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission are once again adopting privatisation as the only solution.

At the call of National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers, they observed August 18 as the National Energy Security Day and protested against the Electricity Amendment Bill 2020 and privatisation of electricity distribution.
