Power employees stage country-wide protests

Power sector employees and engineers staged protest demonstrations and held meetings across the country on Tuesday against Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2020 and privatisation of electricity distribution in Union Territories, Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam (Varanasi), three discoms of Odisha and for cancellation of CESU privatisation already handed over to Tata Power in Odisha.

All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) chairman Shailendra Dubey said in a statement here that on the call of National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE) more than 15 lakh power employees and engineers held protest meetings and demonstrations across the country against privatisation.
