Locals clash with Bescom staff over bills
Bengaluru: A group of men clashed with two Bescom employees over increase in power tariff and no mention of ‘200 units free’ in their latest monthly electricity bill.
Lineman Rafiq Ahmed and meter reader Chinmay were distributing bills for June in Tipunagar, Ramanagara, when Shabaz Khan and Tausif Basha objected to the bills. “Saying the government is giving free electricity, they refused to accept the bills and also told others not to take them. Rafiq and Chinmay tried to convince the locals in vain,” police said. The arguments led to some jostling and police pacified both groups.
