Infra work creates bottlenecks for commuters

CHENNAI: Commuting on Thoraipakkam-Pallavaram radial road is a hassle for motorists and pedestrians because of the ongoing metro phase 2 construction and the haphazard manner in which traffic is regulated.

The road is lines with residential buildings and food joints on both sides, and there’s a constant flow of vehicles. Residents also complain that people who don’t want to pay the parking fee in the BSR mall park their vehicles along the service road and pedestrian pathways.

This forces pedestrians to pick their way through construction equipment, and debris, with a real risk of injury.

R Rajeshkumar, who drives down the stretch every day, has approached traffic inspector R Ravichandran seeking better regulation.
