Domestic flyers double last month over Jan ’22
Mumbai: Domestic passenger traffic in January registered a growth of 96% as airlines flew 125 lakh people compared to 64 lakh in January 2022 when the Covid third wave had started hitting air travel. Pre-Covid, in January 2020, domestic airlines transported 127.8 lakh passengers, which was a little more than what they handled in December 2022 (127.4 lakh).
January also marked the beginning of the conventional lean quarter for domestic travel as Indian carriers flew about 2 lakh fewer passengers compared to the previous month, December 2022, showed the monthly traffic data released by DGCA.
