Chennai mayor wants contractors to ensure quality and durability while relaying roads

CHENNAI: Chennai mayor R Priya on Friday said contractors should ensure quality and durability while relaying roads. Roads should be milled before relaying, she said.

At a review meeting, the mayor instructed officials to ensure the same and penalise contractors who don’t follow the fundamentals.

“In this financial year, Rs 433 crore had been allotted to relay 3,676 roads to a length of 645 kilometre. Wherever line department work is finished, the GCC should immediately relay the roads,” she said.
