MUMBAI: Western Railway (WR) has relaxed the permanent speed restriction (PSR) on Harbour line from Khar Road and Santacruz to Vile Parle that will pave the way for Harbour trains to run at a maximum speed of 80kmph instead of 60kmph now.
A PSR is imposed primarily because of track geometry when there is a huge curve to the rail and at crossovers where trains change track. The restricted speed at PSR spots ensures that there are no accidents, particularly because of derailment.
WR’s chief public relations officer Sumit Thakur said, “There was a series of curves on both up and down Harbour lines.
