UHBVN staffer caught taking bribe of Rs 50K
A team of the State Vigilance Bureau (SVB) caught a lineman of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) red handed while taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a member of the Resident Welfare Society (RWS) of the Omaxe Heights Housing Society.
The accused was identified as Sumer (38), posted as lineman in the SDO office, UHBVN circle, Murthal. The raid was conducted by the SVB team, led by inspector Sumit Kumar, SVB, Panipat unit. The police said the accused was demanding Rs 20 lakh for changing the category of their society bills. The complainant said the department was sending the bills under the commercial category for the past many years.
