Train comes to a halt after hitting concrete slab
Chennai: The Chennai-bound Kaveri Express came to a stop on Sunday when it collided with a concrete slab allegedly placed by a mentally challenged person on the railway tracks near Ambur in Tirupattur district.
According to preliminary investigations, police said, a mentally unstable person placed the concrete slab around 1am on Sunday and has since been taken into custody. Sources said that after passing Ambur station the Kaveri Express encountered a concrete slab on the tracks. The impact dislodged the slab, causing a loud noise that prompted the loco pilot to apply brakes and stop it at Pachakuppam station, near Ambur.
