Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission to conduct public hearings on tariff hike after August 11
CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) will hold public hearings after August 11, after the state advisory committee (SAC) meets its members to discuss the content of the petitions by Tangedco and Tantransco proposing tariff hikes for electricity consumers among other things.
Tangedco submitted its petitions to TNERC to revise the existing tariffs for electricity consumption to low-tension and high-tension consumers on July 18 and the same was approved by TNERC and consumers and stakeholders have been asked to send their responses and comments over the proposed hikes. Amid reports that the meeting should happen after taking in public comments, TNERC secretary Veeramani said the commission is going by the rule book to conduct SAC meeting before the public hearing.
