Subsidence near grand chord tracks under MPL railway line

Yet another subsidence of land took place within the surrounding of Shyamnagar on Tuesday morning with a 20 feet deep ditch under MPL railway line. About fifty meter radius of the area is affected surrounding the tracks. This happens to be the third subsidence within a fortnight period and the current one is very close to the grand chord railway line of railways connecting Howrah – New Delhi via Dhanbad .

Residents of Shyamnagar said the area subsided with a huge bang on early Tuesday morning affecting movement of goods trains towards MPL from Thaparnagar station.This line was constructed for transporting coal to Maithon thermal power station.
