Snow causes fault in electricity feeders

The snowfall since Sunday evening caused faults in several feeder lines in Kashmir leading to power outages in many areas.

“On Sunday evening we were supplying an estimated 95 percent of the power supply, which on Monday morning had dipped to around 50 percent due to snags in many 11-KV and 33-KV feeders across the Kashmir region,” said Chief Engineer, KPDCL, Aijaz Ahmad Dar.

“However, due to strenuous efforts of our staff, till 5 PM we had restored all 33-KV feeders across the Kashmir division and only 45 out of 951 11-KV feeders are (now) under repairs.”

He said that by evening they were supplying 1255 Megawatts against the restricted demand of 1450 MW. “At 7 am our supply had come down to around 600 Megawatts due to faults in these feeders.”
