Sewage floods Vel’s univ road; civic body in slumber
CHENNAI: Vel’s University Road under the Tambaram corporation has been flooded with sewage for over three weeks, but numerous complaints of local residents have not resulted in any change.
The sewage manhole continues to overflow on the road. With students and public having to walk through the stretch, it’s not only a pressing civic issue but also a health hazard.
Raghu Mani, a resident of the area stated that around Pongal in January, the two manholes were clogged and began overflowing. “We had complained, and one of it was set right while the other was left. Then again after complaints, GCC workers just poured concrete and debris. That resulted in further clogging of the manhole,” he said.
