GCC to relay 5,394 bad roads in added areas of Chennai
CHENNAI: Residents of extended areas of the city will soon breathe a sigh of relief as the Greater Chennai Corporation will be relaying 5,394 bad roads in added areas at a cost of 497.8 crore.
The roads run for 337.28km. The corporation has issued tenders for 1,809 roads to a length of 270km. The remaining work on 3,585 roads will be taken up soon.
Among the added areas, the 1,640 roads would be re-laid in Valasaravakkam zone that covers areas such as Nolambur, Virugambakkam and Valsaravakkam; followed by 773 roads in Alandur that covers Nandambakkam, Ramapuram, Porur and Trade Centre.
