Seeking Rs 2,700 crore: DMRC invites bids from 18 banks to buy Airport Line assets

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has sought bids from 18 banks to raise ₹2,700 crore for the purchase of Airport Line assets. The Supreme Court has directed DMRC to pay Anil Ambani-owned Reliance Infrastructure NSE -2.00 % ₹4,600 crore plus interest in connection with the termination of a contract to run the Airport Express Line.

The arbitral award to the Delhi Airport Metro Express Pvt Ltd (DAMEPL) was to be made in two equal monthly instalments.

According to the letter dated May 19, sent to 18 major banks, “‘DMRC proposes to raise loan to the tune of ₹2,700 crore for purchase of Airport Line assets.”
