Ready for takeoff: India to pour in big bucks to augment aero ambitions
With demand and appetite for air travel picking up once again after the Covid-induced lull, the central government intends to ramp up India’s aviation infrastructure. New Delhi has a capital outlay plan of Rs 98,000 crore to modernise old and construct new greenfield airports by 2025.
Air travel demand has picked up steadily, with domestic passenger traffic in February 2023 rising 54 per cent on an annual basis and more importantly, down 4 per cent compared to February 2020, ICRA data showed.
