Power utilities make do with 49% workers during strike
Mumbai: Energy minister Nitin Raut directed power utility employees who went on strike on Monday to resume services or face action under Mesma (Maharashtra Essential Services Maintenance Act).
The state generation, transmission and distribution companies had 49% attendance. The remaining 51% joined the strike called by 27 unions to protest against the “privatisation of power firms”.
Raut held talks with the striking workers and assured them that he will not allow any kind of “privatisation” in any of the power companies, including MSEDCL, Mahatransco and Mahagenco.
