Power restoration on fast track in Bulbul-hit areas

While severe cyclone ‘Bulbul’ affected 16 lakh consumers in four coastal districts, all-out efforts were made to restore power facilities to them on a war footing basis.

Energy Secretary Bishnupada Sethi monitored the power restoration efforts along with the teams. In the meantime, major power structures have been restored.

Though the Bulbul passed over the coastal districts without making the landfall in State on November 9, however, Kendrapada, Jagatsighpur, Baleswar and Bhadrak districts did not escape from the effects of ‘Bulbul’.

A wind speed of 60-70 kmph caused damage to the power infrastructure affecting around 16 lakh consumers belonging to Kendrapada, Jagatsighpur under Cesu and Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Keonjhar and Baleswar districts under Nesco.
