Power cut at Avadi police quarters over unpaid dues
CHENNAI: As many as 100 members of police families at Avadi police quarters are up in arms since Monday after Tangedco disconnected power supply to the locality over unpaid dues of 2.8 lakh. Lift, street lights and water services were hit, residents said.
The ten-storey building has 900 houses to accommodate families of police personnel. The aggrieved police families said they have paid their power bills on time. The disconnection was due to unpaid bills for lift facilities, water and light facilities that fall under the general category.
The families gathered on the ground-floor and staged a protest condemning the lethargic attitude of officials in paying the electricity bills. Senior police officials rushed to the scene and assured to sort out the issue.
