Energy conservation building code adopted
Chennai: Commercial buildings and bigger apartment complexes that consume more electricity in the state should hereafter adhere to the energy conservation building code developed by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) as the state government has passed a GO adopting the code.
The GO dated December 27 said that the government after careful examinations, makes Tamil Nadu Energy Conservation Building Code (TNECBC) 2022 under the Energy Conservation Act.
TNECBC sets energy standards to be followed for the energy-efficient design and construction of buildings in order reduce the energy consumption, without affecting its functions or welfare of the occupants of the building.
