Plea filed in OERC against power tariff hike

Various social organisations and people in general have been opposing the power tariff hike in March by the OdishaElectricity Regulatory Commission (OERC).

The common allegation isthat this was done to suit the interest of the Tata Power which hastaken over power distribution works in the State at the cost ofmillions of power consumers. One Ananda Mohapatra has filed three review petitions against thetariff hike orders passed by on March 26 for hike of retail supplytariff by 30 paisa/unit, bulk supply price by 8 paisa/unit andtransmission tariff by 3 paise/unit.

Mohapatra has stated that huge discontentment of the people and consumers is seen in the State over the increase of the retail tariffs for which the opposition parties had stalled the Odisha
