People will now have to request govt for power subsidy: BJP

New Delhi: Accusing the AAP government of going back on its electoral promise, BJP on Wednesday said that making people opt for power subsidy was akin to withdrawing it. BJP alleged that the government was trying to find out different ways to stop the electricity subsidies being given to its consumers due to heavy losses to the state exchequer.

The leader of the opposition in Delhi Assembly, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, said chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s government had made the people of Delhi look like “beggars”. “People will now have to request the government for an electricity subsidy,” Bidhuri said.

He added that the Kejriwal government should have ideally asked those who did not wish to avail the subsidy to fill up the form.
