ONGC kidnapping: Assam Police review security in OIL, ONGC locations

Following the kidnapping of three employees of ONGC, Assam police has asked all Superintendents of Police of upper Assam districts to review the security arrangements of OIL and ONGC NSE -0.68 % infrastructures under their jurisdiction, especially those located in interior places.

On 21st April outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) militants kidnapped three persons from a work over rig site of ONGC located within Lakwa T.E. Cholapather grant under Sivasagar district.

Five militants came to the site and kidnapped the ONGC staff in an Ambulance kept in the site.

Police in statement stated,”They were driven to No. 5 Bakupukhuri near Charaideo T.E. under Mathurapur from where the kidnapped persons alongwith two kidnappers moved towards the hillside of Nagaland (Mon district of Nagaland).Police was informed about the incident at 5.30 AM.
