NTPC says it has nothing to do with upkeep of ITO Barrage

NEW DELHI: The controversy over flooding of Delhi’s low-lying areas along the Yamuna sucked in central government-owned NTPC after chief minister Arvind Kejriwal named – which his Aam Aadmi Party later called a faux pas – India’s largest power generation entity as the agency that is supposed to pay for the upkeep of sluice gates on the ITO Barrage.

“The allegation is not correct. NTPC has nothing to do with the ITO Barrage maintenance issue in Delhi,” NTPC tweeted in response to Kejriwal’s statement to reporters during his visit to the flooded areas and relief camps. Executives said NTPC gets treated waste water from its power plants from the Delhi Jal Board.
