New Metropolitan traffic plans to clear Bypass Metro hurdle
KOLKATA: The New Garia-Airport corridor is set to cross yet another hurdle with police starting traffic trials for handing over an extended site to RVNL at the Metropolitan crossing to bridge the 125m viaduct gap. The project has been stuck at this point for the last five years.
Kolkata Traffic Police is also set to rejig the traffic circulation plan for vehicles exiting the Metropolitan locality into EM Bypass and those exiting the Bypass to enter it by shifting the intersection, complete with traffic lights, some 280 metres to the north towards Chingrighata and Captain Bheri.
Making use of the partial blockade at Metropolitan given in April, Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) has completed two of the four piers at the site.
