NEW DELHI: Rain pelted down on the capital on Friday, as usual throwing traffic out of gear on flooded roads. While it did bring the much-needed respite from the heat, the tall claims of the civic authorities on monsoon preparedness appeared exposed.
There were massive traffic snarls in the evening in several parts of the city due to waterlogging, with the problem compounded by some buses breaking down. The Public Works Department’s control room received around 50 complaints of inundation, the most from South-East district.
“Major waterlogging was reported from Barapullah flyover, Panchkuian Marg-Paharganj area, Munirka flyover, Mathura Road, East Vinod Nagar, Dhansa Road, Mandoli Road and Indraprastha Marg,” informed a PWD official.
